I ordered Speed Engineering’s 2” long tube headers and optioned out every single add-on option with the best/most expensive option. All that to say, in total I payed only $970 and that came with everything I needed (extended o2 sensor plugs, longer spark plug wires, multi-steel layer gasket, arp bolts, etc.)
If I had went with Kooks or American racing I would be over $3k in the hole to get their headers, x pipe, longer spark plug wires, etc.
Fitment of these headers was perfect, I had very minimal trouble getting these headers in from underneath the car, which is impressive considering the 2” headers are their largest option. Furthermore, I was able to get these headers on in one full day at home on jack-stands, while it was a pain, it is definitely doable if you are patient and competent. The hardest part of install for me was getting the driver’s side gasket lined up between the header and the head. I would highly recommend another person for that part. Once I got that settled everything else was smooth sailing. Across a lot of forum posts and videos I heard a lot of people say that the x pipe kit comes with exhaust clamps that suck at clamping, causing exhaust leaks. One video I watched covered why this is an issue; and it’s actually to do with the loose fitting of the connecting pipes, where he simply cut about a quarter of an inch deeper into the relief cuts where the pipes connect. If you want to find this video, go to YouTube and search “Toys4Life C6 speed engineering headers”. So I bought a blade expecting to go into this job making those relief cuts. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that my pipes fit super snug and perfect, requiring very minimal torque on the clamps to get a proper seal. So I didn’t have to do any cutting or anything!! I only had to go to about 15-20ft-lbs on the clamps they provide and I have no exhaust leaks at all. Everything slid on no problem and I am overall VERY happy with my purchase!! Highly recommend these headers over the more pricy kooks and American racing.
Perfect fit, excellent quality, and outstanding sound. Headers installed and cleared everything perfectly, no issues anywhere. The rest of the exhaust system went the same. Took a while to get everything lined up and slipped in to fit. My first attempt was from front to back but that made the back end of the exhaust bind up somewhat. Restarted from the back to front and that was the ticket to success for me.
Thanks Speed Engineering, it's great to have good quality parts at an affordable price!
I bought the full exhaust system for my 2010 C6 GrandSport. It sounds so God dang good 10/10 recommend.
However, if your installing this system by yourself without a lift and don’t have any patience to work on cars. Don’t do it EL OH EL.
I installed this system outside in a driveway. The headers were a piece of cake to install. Getting the axle back slipped onto the X-pipe was a TASK. It took a solid couple hours of going back and forth loosening the clamps and twisting the pipes to get everything at the right angle.
At first it wasn’t promising with the fitment, but it all came together and cleared everything. To me it’s worth the headache because you get a full system for a damn good price and it still sounds just as good compared to other big name brand products.
I was a little worried about fit and finish but these puppies bolted up with absolutely no problem they dont rub on anything touch anything lots of clearnce! The flanges were true I am very happy with the proce point fit and finish I would for sure buy again.
